Returns
You have fourteen days to change your mind, and you do not have to give a reason. What follows is how that works in practice.
The 14-day right of withdrawal
Buying at a distance in the EU/EEA gives you an unconditional right to withdraw within 14 days of receiving the work. No reason is required, and none will be asked for. The period runs from the day the work is delivered to you, not the day you ordered it.
To withdraw, write to [CONTACT EMAIL] within the fourteen days. A clear statement is enough. We will confirm in writing.
Signed editions are not exempt
A numbered, signed edition is produced in a run β it is not made to your specification, so it does not fall under the personalised-goods exemption. The same fourteen days apply to editions as to originals. Some galleries claim otherwise; they are wrong.
Returning the work
Send it back within 14 days of telling us you are withdrawing. Two conditions, both practical rather than legal fine print:
- The work must be returned in its original crate or tube. This is the only packaging tested for it, and a painting returned loosely wrapped will almost certainly arrive damaged.
- Return freight must be insured at the full sale value. Carrier default liability will not cover a painting.
Who pays
You pay the return shipping, and you bear the risk in transit until the work reaches us. For originals we will arrange the same specialist carrier that delivered it and invoice you at cost β this is usually cheaper and always safer than arranging it yourself.
If a work comes back with damage that was not present in the dispatch condition report, we may deduct the diminished value from your refund.
Refunds
We refund within 14 days of receiving the work back, to the original payment method. The refund covers the purchase price and the standard outbound delivery cost. It does not cover any premium or expedited shipping you chose, or the return freight.
Auction purchases are different
A winning bid is a binding contract of sale. Online timed auctions do not generally escape distance-selling rules, so the withdrawal right may still apply β but bidding is not a way to reserve a work you are undecided about. See the conditions of sale for how lots are settled.
Damaged or not as described
Separate from withdrawal, you have statutory rights if a work arrives damaged or is not as described. Tell us within 48 hours of delivery and keep all packaging. These rights are not limited by anything on this page.
